London Redux

Just another dreary November day in London! My return to England on an overnight flight found me battling sleepiness by taking a late afternoon walk along the Thames River and through Battersea Park. As you can see, the fall colors were fairly spectacular.

Some of the many houseboats docked along the north side of the river just upstream from Battersea Bridge, seen in the near background with Albert Bridge beyond.

A new office and housing development on the south side of the river reached by crossing Battersea Bridge on my way to Battersea Park.

Albert Bridge is at the west entrance to the park.

The Peace Pagoda is a prominent feature of the park.

A bowling lawn in the park.

Bridges, parks, and gardens - as only the Brits can do it!

Tchaikovsky, anyone?

Sculpture and magpie in the park.

Albert Bridge as seen from Chelsea Bridge.

River traffic with the setting sun behind the Peace Pagoda.

One of many memorials along Chelsea Embankment (this one to the Carabiniers who lost their lives in the South African War), and an example of the small details that I find intriguing.

Two parting shots of Albert Bridge.
