South Llano River - 8/30/2008
The Saturday Paddlers' holiday weekend started on Saturday with a 7.6-mile run on the South Llano River. Thirteen paddlers met in Junction before departing for the put-in at the KC 105 crossing. The take-out was at the State Park. The river flow was an adequate 93 cfs.

With Milo's attempts to retrieve a hanging rope as entertainment, the paddlers made their customary stop for lunch. Joline managed to locate next to an ant mound.

Kathy obviously enjoyed the taste!
Kathy's attempt to levitate out of the water was unsuccessful.

Two Nancy's, Reiko, Joline, and Kathy enjoy a refreshing dip in the small pool formed by a channel of the river where it rejoins the main river. What are they plotting?

At the last significant rapid, Joline laughs with Susan, not at her - unlike the rest of us. It appeared as if The Rock, which was being transported by Susan, had been lost.
Steve safely maneuvers around the last obstacle, while Nancy waits in the eddy to catch the rest of the show.

Frio River Camphouse
After dining at La Familia, ten paddlers from the South Llano River trip headed south to Joline's wonderful house overlooking the scenic West Frio River. They were joined for an evening of fun by Diane (from the Waco Paddle Club) and Joan.

Joline notices an animal perched in the tree overlooking the porch. It turns out to be a prickly guest.

Nueces River - 8/31/2008
The ten holdovers from Saturday's paddle were joined by Diane (with Joan's assistance for the shuttle) for a run on the Nueces River. The trip started (perhaps a little late) at the 19-mile bridge, and ended at the Chalk Bluff park, a journey of perhaps a little over five miles. The river flow was a barely satisfactory 81 cfs by the time the boats were launched around noon, and declined somewhat during the afternoon.

Kathy enjoys floating the small rapid - perhaps even more than sharing the canoe with Henry.

The color purple - maybe a good name for a movie?
